About MIKE BLOEM Photography
Mike Bloem was born in Khon Kaen, Thailand on September 19th, 1985. Apart from 2 years in The Netherlands, most of his childhood was spent in South East Asia, living in countries like Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Singapore. Part of a third-culture generation, 'Home' remains a fluid term to him. Originally captivated by video he transitioned to single frame photography in 2002 upon taking a class in Indonesia and the encouragement of his parents who bought him his first SLR.
In 2012 he finished his Medical Degree at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He is currently pursuing his Paediatric Specialization in the United Kingdom, having worked in Aruba, Curacao and the Netherlands previously. His dream to combat global child mortality through efficient and effective innovations remains a predominant goal. To photograph these changes and the people and places that make this world worth fighting for, just as much so.
